Did you know that as of April 1, 2019, there are new ICBC legislative changes going into effect in British Columbia?
New approved services
For all claims with a start date of April 1, 2019 or later, you will no longer require your family physician to refer you for treatment to address your pains and symptoms resulting from a motor vehicle accident.
You also have access to even more services, which means you can come to any one of our clinics following your motor vehicle accident with a claim number and begin receiving a range of services, including:
Physiotherapy
Massage Therapy
Kinesiology/Active Rehabilitation
Chiropractic Care
Psychology
No user fees
A second new benefit to you is that we will no longer be charging user fees! This is for all claims, even those that are from before April 1, 2019.
You will no longer need to pay out of pocket for any of our rehabilitation services, meaning you can focus strictly on getting better, not on finances.
Pre-authorized treatments
To take full advantage of all the different rehabilitation services that are pre-approved without the referral of a family doctor, you will need to initiate treatment soon after you receive your claim number.
While there are many options for treatment, a claimant will have 12 weeks from the date of the accident to take full advantage of the pre-approved services. Should the timeline extend beyond 12 weeks, all future treatments will require a referral by a family doctor and are subject to the approval of ICBC.
What to Provide
You’ll need to bring the following information to the clinic for your first ICBC-related visit.
ICBC claim number
Personal Health Number
Date of birth
Lawyer contact information (if applicable)
Current working status
GP referral (accidents before April 1, 2019)
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, give us a call and we would be glad to help you move to a better life!
